Software with a point.

Focus127 is an independent Australian software studio. We build a small number of products, use them every day, and keep sharpening them until they earn their place.

01  /  Current work

Versolingo

Language learning that remembers what you know.

Most language apps put you back at zero every morning. Versolingo keeps track of every single word you have met, so a session spends its time on the words that still need it.

  • Adaptive daily sessions

Every session is built from where you actually are, not a fixed lesson order.

  • Word level progress

Progress is stored per word. Already know one? Unlock it and move on.

  • Phrase and recall practice

Words on their own are not language. Recall and phrase work put them back in place.

  • Friend battles

Head to head rounds against someone you know. A real reason to open it.

  • Instant in the browser

Open a link and start. No app store, no install, no waiting on a download.

Powered by VersoLoop, our own learning and scheduling engine.

02  /  The engine

VersoLoop

VersoLoop is our own learning and scheduling engine. It holds a state for every word you have met, then uses that state to decide what your next session contains. Answer well and a word steps back. Hesitate and it returns sooner.

New Learning Solid Unlocked

The loop picks the words that need work. Click any word to unlock it.

    03  /  How we work

    Four things we hold to.

    1. 01

      Useful over bloated

Every feature has to earn the weight it adds. The default answer is no, and the product is better for it.

    2. 02

      Built through real use

We use what we make, daily, in the state it is actually in. Problems get found the honest way.

    3. 03

      Small experiments, clear feedback

Change one thing, watch what it does, keep it or drop it. Small moves you can read beat big ones you cannot.

    4. 04

      Steady refinement over hype

No countdowns, no launch theatre. The work gets better most weeks, and that adds up.

    04  /  Next

    In the lab.

More focused software is in progress here. It gets named when it works and not before, so there is nothing to announce yet. Say hello if you want to hear about the next one.
